Bob Clark's Christmas Count Anecdotes

For more than a century, the Audubon Christmas Bird Count (CBC) has brought together thousands of volunteers across the Americas to count birds for conservation. What began on Christmas Day in 1900 as an alternative to competitive bird hunting has become one of the world's longest-running community science projects. By participating, volunteers collect data that power critical conservation work. Data has been used for bird population trend detection, weather effects driving changes in specific specie behaviors and for management or governmental conservation policy decisions. Approximately three hundred peer-reviewed scientific papers have been published using the 127+ years of continous CBC data collection. Along the way, funny stories have taken place.
