April 2 @ 7:45 am – 1:00 pm
Peace River Audubon Society will be participating in the Great American Cleanup (GAC) being held on Saturday, April 2. This event is being planned by Keep Charlotte Beautiful. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the community we live in by spending time cleaning up or beautifying our neighborhoods with friends and family. PRAS has voted to clean up Kiwanis Park located at 501 Donora Street off Midway Boulevard being west of 41.
The GAC is scheduled to kickoff at 8:00 AM and continue until 1:00 PM. This is a County-wide event with individuals and teams working throughout the County. PRAS volunteers will meet in the parking lot of Kiwanis Park at 7:45 AM. Please RSVP to Nancy Turner (941.627.9107 or redbird443@embarqmail.com) as soon as possible if you are going to volunteer for this GAC. Great American Cleanup Tee Shirts have been ordered, so please let me know if you will be participating and what size shirt you would like. Garbage bags will be provided. Refreshments will be provided following the cleanup at the Mid County Mini-Transfer & Recycling Facilities, 19675 Kenilworth Boulevard, Port Charlotte.
The 2016 Birdathon and The Great American Cleanup happen to fall on the same Saturday in April. Peace River Audubon has a very large membership with diverse skills and interests, so both events could be fun to participate in. Kiwanis Park is a great Charlotte County birding spot where Birdathon teams could add a large number of birds to their count list while still participating in the Great American Cleanup…
Come out and join some really good people doing really great things!
