Myakka River State Park Field Trip

Our excellent birder Sharon Wilcox will guide us after you enter the park and pay the entrance fee $6 per vehicle (2-8 people) or $4 single-occupant vehicle. Drive on the main road to the first bridge where Sharon will meet us. There is a pull off on the left side before the bridge to park for the first stop. This is a car caravan with 3 or 4 main stops and views of wildlife along the way. You have the chance to see herons, egrets, ducks, ibises, cormorants, turkeys, vultures, limpkins, anhingas, roseate spoonbills and an osprey or bald eagle feeding. You may see peninsula cooters, Florida softshells or American alligators sunning themselves on the banks along with anoles, geckos and skinks which scamper along the trees, and minnows who bottom-feed in the shallows.
