Peace River Audubon Society will be holding two nature walks to celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22. Both walks will be held at Deep Creek Preserve located on SW Peace River Street, Arcadia, just off Kings Highway (CR 769). The morning walk will begin at 10:00 AM lead by Naturalist John Phillips and the second walk is scheduled for 4:00 PM lead by Naturalist Shannon McGinnis. Deep Creek Preserve offers trails through pine flatwoods consisting of longleaf pines and a diverse mixture of native shrubs and herbs, wetland marshes, and a hardwood hammock. A packet of native wildflower seeds consisting of eleven varieties will be given to the first 25 participants. The seed packets were filled by Pine Forest Fruit and Flower Farm in North Fort Myers. Come for one walk or stay for both. Put together a picnic lunch, bring along a chair, and sit around an old fashioned campfire. Any questions can be directed to Nancy Turner 941-627-9107.
