Blind Pass/Middle Beach walk led by Bill Dunson. A one mile loop walk passes though mangroves, upland hammocks and beaches and we will discuss the plants, animals and community ecology and history of these habitats. No reservations. Myakka State Forest walks led by Bill Dunson. A 1.5 mile loop walk along the Gordon Smith or the Rocky Creek Trails reveals many interesting aspects of the natural history of pine flatwoods, a pristine freshwater pond and the upper end of a tidal creek. The interaction of fire, salinity and hydroperiod are the major factors as is human management of the land. No reservations.
