NEW YEAR’S DAY WALKABOUT AT OLLIE’S POND

Friday, January 1, 2016 with Stu and Louise Lewis 8 a.m

Everyone is invited to celebrate the New Year at one of the best birding sites in Port Charlotte. This is a very pleasant walk around Ollie’s Pond, always seeing a good amount of species.  Common sightings include a Sora Rail, snipe, kestrel, Pileated Woodpecker, Hooded Mergansers, Ring-necked Ducks, Blue-winged Teals, Pine and Yellow-rumped Warblers, along with some of the more common song birds and water birds. The special thing about Ollie’s Pond is that there are almost always surprise species that show-up!  For more info or directions, call (603) 742-2874.
