Trip Leader – Jerry Waters

Jerry's Sora

Here are important notes from Jerry Waters, the leader of the photography group field trip:

Out next photography trip is next week.  We are going to both the Green Cay Wetlands and the Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Palm Beach County.  Because of the length of the trip both in terms of distance and time, it may be best if we just meet there.

We will shoot on Green Cay Tuesday afternoon and Wakodahatchee on Wednesday morning.  I will be at Green Cay at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 1.  After shooting at Green Cay we can go eat and then go to our separate lodgings.  We will meet at 7:00 or 7:30 on Wednesday, March 2 at Wakodahatchee.

These two amazing sites are only about two or three miles apart.  The easiest way to get to them if from the Florida Turnpike (a toll road).

From Punta Gorda you have two good routes to choose from.   Both can be seen at https://www.google.com/#q=directions+to+Green+Cay+wetlands+from+Punta+Gorda

One way uses I-75 south to near Fort Lauderdale, then north on the Florida Turnpike.

The other routes uses SR 74 (Bermont Rd), US 27, and US 80 to the Florida Turnpike.

Both routes are about the same in terms of time.  The Bermont Rd route is short, but not quicker.

Once you are on the Florida Turnpike, either exit 81 (Atlantic Ave) or exit 86 (Boynton Beach Blvd) will get you to Hagen Ranch Road.  The Green Cay Wetlands is at 12800 Hagen Ranch Road.

I will see you at Green Cay on Tuesday afternoon.

If you are planning to go, please book your room for Tuesday night, March 1, in the Delray Beach / Boynton Beach area. Spring break begins in March so rooms in the area will be at a premium. Many places are already booked solid. Contact Jerry Waters for possible leads on available places to stay.
