Larry Behrens and Barb Taylor will lead a field trip to Harns Marsh in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Nestled between Sunshine Blvd. and Buckingham Air Park lies one of Lehigh Acres’ best kept secrets. Harns Marsh is known to birders as one of the most accessible places in Lee County to find Snail Kites, Limpkin, wading birds, and more than 140 other species of wildlife.
Participants are asked to meet at 7 a.m. in the East Carpool location in the Winn Dixie parking lot on Route 17, east of I-75. (Winn Dixie location: 27680 Bermont Rd., Punta Gorda) It is a 45 minute drive to Harns Marsh. Bring drinking water, snacks, sun lotion, head cover, binoculars, and cameras. The path alongside this marsh provides for easy walking and viewing.
