Trip Report – Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve, 2-14-23

It was a beautiful sunny morning for our guided walk at Wildflower Preserve and we had a good turnout. Our guides were Michael Weisensee and Eva Furner, both excellent birders, guides, and PRAS members, who are on the staff at Wildflower. The property included upland habitats and salt and fresh water ponds, some that feed into Lemon Bay.  39 species of birds were seen there. You can check out the ebird list below to find the complete list of birds seen. We always enjoy the waterbirds and Michael does an excellent job of explaining their differences. The Purple Martins had just arrived, and we enjoyed flyovers of a Kestrel, Red-shouldered hawk, and Bald Eagle. Thanks to opening the preserve to our Peace River Audubon group.
