Peace River Audubon Society’s November Walkabout will take place at Cedar Point Environmental Park on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, with a starting time of 8:00 a.m. This 115-acre Charlotte County Park is located at 2300 Placida Road (Hwy 775) in Englewood. Parking is located along the circle drive that is adjacent to the Visitor Center where participants should meet. Trails will take walkers through pine flatwoods, a salt marsh, mangrove fringe and hammock areas. It will take approximately 2 hours to navigate the trails.
It is recommended that participants wear proper footwear for moderate walking, bring bug spray and drinking water, binoculars, protection from the sun, and, optionally, a camera.
Cedar Point is reached by driving Hwy 776 out of Port Charlotte to Englewood, turning south (left) on Placida Road (Hwy 775) to the park entrance which is located across the road from the Lemon Bay High School complex. (Participants from North Port can reach the park by taking S. River Road to Pine Street, then south where it turns into Placida Road. Venice participants can reach the park by driving south on Hwy 776 to Placida Road.)
Carpooling is recommended.
