Ten enthusiastic birders enjoyed a walkabout at Kiwanis Park the morning of Tuesday, November 1. The day was comfortably cool and crystal clear. Sightings of 25 birds were made throughout the park. The best sighting of the day was a Swainson’s Thrush. The walkabout ended in the parking lot with a sighting of a hummingbird, presumably a Ruby-throated.
Bird sightings included: Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Red-shouldered Hawks, Mourning Doves, Cardinals, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Great Blue Heron, Crow, Catbirds, Yellow-throated Warblers, Swainson’s Thrush, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Common Yellowthroat, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Little Blue Heron, Green Heron, Great Ibis (fly over), Palm Warbler, Pine Warblers, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Turkey Vulture, Hummingbird, White Ibis, and Belted Kingfisher.
Birding at Kiwanis Park should continue to be rewarding during the coming months.
