FIELD TRIP TO PINECRAFT PARK, 1420 Gilbert Ave, Sarasota, between Beneva and Tuttle Roads – Saturday, March 18.
A quiet oasis and a community gathering space along Phillippi Creek, this park has mature oak trees and abundant shade. Amenities are restrooms, boat ramp and picnic area with ample parking. Bring your lunch or try Der Dutchman or Yoder’s Restaurants and Amish Village are within a few blocks. You can make a day of it and bring your kayaks to launch at the shallow-draft boat ramp which provides access to the bay and Gulf via Phillippi Creek or take the CanoeTrail approximately 3-miles upstream from the launch at Phillippi Estate Park to the park. Nature trails wind through the mesic hammocks, a hotspot for migrating species and owl nesting! See the latest sightings of over 40 species at https://ebird.org/hotspot/L1877656. Everyone is invited.
