WALKABOUT AT LARRY TAYLOR KIWANIS PARK 3-14-2023
Please join the Peace River Audubon Society for a guided walk at Kiwanis Park. The walk will be on Tuesday, March 14, at 8 AM. Meet in the parking lot at 501 Donora street, Port Charlotte, 33948. This trip will be led by PRAS members, Phyllis Cady and Shannon McGinnis. We will walk along the established park trails that will take us under an oak canopy, past tall pines, and to a pond with a walkway across the water, then back to the parking area. The restrooms are open. This walk will be about 1 1/2 miles and we should be back by 10 AM. Kiwanis Park sustained a lot of damage from Hurricane Ian, and the walkway through the Carolina Willows is still closed, but with many trees and branches down, it is easier to see the birds in the tall oaks and pines. The woods are full of bird song, and there are ducks, grebes, and waterbirds feeding at the pond. Hopefully we will find migrating birds there mid-March. Any questions, call Phyllis at 941-286-7638. Everyone is invited. Hope to see you there!
