WALKABOUT JANUARY 1st – Ollie’s Pond

The annual New Year’s Day walkabout at Ollie’s Pond is on Sunday 1st of January 2023 and will start 8:00 AM. Meet in the parking lot. Ollie’s Pond is a great spot for birding and walking. The Black-bellied Whistling Duck and the elusive Purple Gallinule are special birds to be seen there. Usually some interesting waders and ducks are around. The palm, yellow rump and pine warblers with other song birds hang out in the trees. It is always fun to look for an unexpected feathery visitor. The leisurely path around the pond is about a mile. The parking lot for the park is at the corner of Avon and Gobron , near the corner of Edgewater and Collingwood. 18235 Avon Ave. Port Charlotte, Fl. 33948

Dec 17, 2022 – Annual Christmas Bird Count

Hope you plan on participating in the Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, December 17. You don’t need to be an expert to get out there and help although we do need experienced birders also. Dec 15th – PRAS Holiday Pot Luck Dinner and Program

December 15 – Potluck Supper & Photo Contest

You are invited to our Peace River Audubon pot luck dinner and speaker program on December 15th at 5:30 pm (speaker 7 pm). The location is at the First Alliance Church, Family Life Center (Gym) at 20444 Midway Blvd. Port Charlotte Our speaker will be Brandon Moody the Charlotte County Water Manager. Bring a dish to share with your place setting (plate, silverware & cup). We will have the 50/50 drawing so bring a few dollars to participate.

Set up will be at 4:30 if you would like to help with tables and chairs.

Covid indoor Protocol will be observed and masks will be provided.
