Holley Short, “Nesting Seabirds of Pinellas County”

Holley Short is the Shorebird Program Manager in the Suncoast region for Audubon Florida. During the breeding season from March – August, she coordinates with county staff and landowners to protect imperiled shorebirds and seabirds that nest along our coastline, on both beaches and rooftops. Holley also works closely with volunteer bird stewards to educate the public about these incredible species in order to prevent disturbances. During the nonbreeding season, she surveys the beaches for federally-listed species such as the Red Knot and Piping Plover as they migrate through Florida.

The Peace River Audubon Society is inviting you to a Walkabout at the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC) Nature Preserve in Punta Gorda, Florida on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 for an opportunity to connect with nature.

Location: 10941 Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda, FL Time: 8:00am Meet at the shelter near the parking lot.

CHEC is a nonprofit that manages environmentally sensitive lands with trails and provides educational programs for ALL ages. Every year, CHEC educates over 4,000 students.

A CHEC Naturalist will be your Walkabout Guide for an educational and memorable connection with nature.
