The December Walkabout of the Peace River Audubon Society will be at Charlotte Flatwoods environmental park on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. This preserve is located in Punta Gorda at 15801 Tamiami Trail, 33955. Our walk will be about 2 miles, through pine flatwoods, and along marsh and pond areas. We should be seeing a variety of wading birds, warblers, and woodpeckers. Both the dry prairie and wetlands provide good habitat for wildlife. We have seen otters, alligators, Bald Eagles, and Sandhill Cranes nesting.
Please meet in the parking lot at 8:00 AM. Be sure to bring water and wear walking shoes. If you have any questions call Phyllis at 941-286-7638. Shannon McGinnis and Phyllis Cady will be leading this trip. Please join us! The general public is always welcome to attend.
