Eva Furner, LBC board member and preserve committee chair, will present at the Peace River Audubon Society monthly online meeting. She will describe the $2.1 million restoration of the Preserve, including major elements, key benefits, and challenges ahead.

Eva Furner will discuss the $2.1 million restoration of the old Wildflower golf course in Grove City, including major project elements, restoration benefits, the ongoing challenges posed by invasive plants, and plans for the future. The project includes 22 acres of new and enhanced wetlands, expanded estuarine habitat that is protecting juvenile tarpon and many other species, and thousands of native upland and wetland plantings. The new preserve, owned and managed by non-profit Lemon Bay Conservancy (LBC), is improving water quality flowing into Lemon Bay and providing a permanently-protected refuge for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. As a follow-up to the presentation, Eva will lead a guided bird walk at the preserve on Feb. 26 at 8 AM.
Eva is a member of the LBC board of directors and has chaired the preserve restoration committee since 2011. She lives in Placida year-round and loves to explore our beautiful lands and waters. Eva is retired from IBM and holds a BA from Vanderbilt University and and an MBA from the University of Miami.
