Walkabout at Charlotte Flatwoods Environmental Park – December 4, 2018

Everyone is welcome to join Peace River Audubon at Charlotte Flatwoods which is located in southern Charlotte County. We will meet in the parking area at 8:00 AM for a birding walk around Spartina Marsh. The trail is 1.7 miles and meanders through pine flatwoods, depressional marshes, and around a freshwater pond. We hope to see Sandhill cranes, woodpeckers, bald eagles, warblers, limpkins, waterbirds, and possibly snail kites and nuthatches. Don’t be surprised to see alligators and maybe an otter or two. Make sure to bring your binoculars, hiking shoes, water, and a hat and sunscreen. There will be binoculars and bird books available for new birders. Call 941-286-7638 if you have any questions.

Directions: 15801 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda 33955 Head south on US 41 and look for the sign on the right. If you get to Zemel Road you have just missed it.
